In Germany

While there’s no literal “king,” Germany is considered the homeland of the pretzel. Bakers in Bavaria have made pretzels since the 12th century. In German culture, the pretzel is a symbol of good luck and prosperity.

In the United States

Joe Nacchio, co-founder of Philadelphia Pretzel Factory, is often called the Pretzel King for helping popularize soft pretzels across the U.S.
